Inspired by the surprising strength of wooden apple crates, Frank designed an entire collection of furniture for Knoll using interwoven strips of maple.
By using the same lightweight slender wood strips for both the structure and the seat, no additional structural support was required. Furthermore, the backs of the chairs have the ability to flex for added comfort. According to Knoll, its Frank Gehry collection reflects a wider trend of a return to raw and natural materials this year.
