Jaipur Rugs’ Project Error collection has been nominated for the international prize of the German Design Council, which annually recognises unique design trends and includes only the top designers from around the world.
Renowned designer Kavi is the creator of Anthar, the nominated rug. Anthar is a reproduction of a 'faulty' carpet woven by three artisans out of sync with one another. Rather than a precisely ordered pattern, the result is a new design borne of an error.
“I have always loved the push and pull of opposites – old versus new, traditional versus contemporary. I see perfection in imperfection,” says Kavi. “It is such an honor that the German Design Council shares my vision. I am thrilled that my Anthar rug has been nominated for this prestigious award.”
Jaipur Rugs Co is at the forefront of design and creativity, with carpets ranging from the traditional to innovative, bold designs such as those in the Project Error collection. The company prides itself on providing sustainable livelihoods to thousands of artisans across India.
