Danish furniture designer Ole Wanscher’s signature work is his minimalist Colonial Chair. However, few people realise that Ole also rendered the design as a two-seater sofa, first introduced in 1964, and produced in small quantities only.
Based on the same core design as the armchair, the sofa reflects the designer’s penchant for the refined, as well as his fascination with furniture design from 18th century England and bygone colonial times. Carl Hansen & Son has revived the design as part of its Colonial Series relaunch.
“As Wanscher’s reputation as one of the true greats of Danish furniture design continues to grow, the unified series enables us to bring this story to design aficionados the world over,” says CEO Knud Erik Hansen.
