After less than a year since he introduced NJA Furniture to the UK market – establishing a full working office in Hamble, Hampshire, offering ranges of flat-pack solid pine and MDF products – former Steens UK head Keith Robinson has entered into UK distribution agreements with another prestigious Danish manufacturer, Designa Furniture.
Designa was founded in 1992 by its present owner, Henning Christensen. The company’s first product, a TV unit, was followed by more living room pieces and bedroom furniture. Since 200, it has concentrated on the manufacture of top-of-the-range kitchens, bathrooms, and melamine-finished furniture, selling product through a number of retail outlets – including its own stores – in Denmark, as well as in Norway, Finland and Sweden.
“As with NJA, I am setting up a UK office for Designa, and will handle all their activities in the UK,” says Keith, “both direct to key accounts from the factory, and also stocking and distributing for next-day delivery through www.furniture-to-go.co.uk.”
According to Keith, Designa is the perfect partner for Furniture To Go and NJA, making the overall offer complete – NJA making commercial bedroom products in FSC-certified solid pine and MDF, and Designa working with high-quality melamine living/dining collections, all designed in house.
“A thorough knowledge of the UK furniture market is essential when designing fit-for-purpose products,” says Keith, “but the changes in trading over the past few years also require stocks in the UK for immediate delivery – both to stores and also for the direct home delivery goods sold through the ever-growing list of quality websites.
“The Furniture To Go model meets all these needs, so it is no surprise it has experienced amazing growth in its first few months of trading.”
A range of high-value products has been developed for the UK market, stocks of which will be available for the first time in the UK in mid-July. Designa’s ranges can be seen on the Furniture To Go website.
