Boasting a turnover of more than €380m, Grupo Pikolin attests to being the second largest entity in the European bedding industry, and the market leader in Spain, France and Portugal. Now, the group operates in the UK and Ireland, offering various brands at various price points.
Currently, Grupo Pikolin has a permanent market presence in more than 10 countries, and commercial distribution agreements worldwide. The group offers 13 market-specific trademarks – including Pikolin, Epeda, Serta, Bultex, Sunlay, Sema, Merinos, King Koil and Orthorest in Asia, and the Dunlopillo brand in 45 countries in Asia and Africa.
As well as its headquarters in Saragossa, Spain, the group has eight production plants in Europe and two in South East Asia. Founded more than 65 years ago, the group is very much an established international player, moving into the Portuguese market in 1988, France in 2002, and Italy and Malaysia in 2012. It is also carrying out several retail projects in Central America.
An ambitious R&D programme and access to world-leading technologies help ensure the group remains globally competitive, and its expansion process is a clear reflection of the group’s investment in growth through new markets.
Innovation is a key part of Grupo Pikolin’s philosophy. A team of engineers specialising in product and ergonomics develops and validates these innovations – proof of this is the significant number of patents (more than 100) that the group has registered.
Grupo Pikolin designs and manufactures solutions in all sleep industry-related product groups – mattresses, upholstered bases, wooden bases, fixed sprung bed bases, articulated sprung bed bases, pillows and bedding, to name but a few.
Its capacity to innovate enables Grupo Pikolin to produce mattresses with a range of technologies – continuous Normablock coil units, Multiactif, pocket spring MultiAir, CrossSystem, viscoelastic materials and gel among others. According to the group, it is able to add more than 30 types of components to customise the sleeping experience.
In the UK and Ireland, Pikolin offers brands to cover a range of price points, from the high-end to upper-middle and budget, as well as new brand concepts including bedsteads, headboards, pillows and bedlinen.
