October's issue: Be seen and green

In October’s issue Furniture News returns to the topic of sustainability in the furniture industry. Design Conformity’s Katryn Furmston kicks things off with by exploring the nature (and consequences) of ‘fast furniture’, while Protokol’s Matthew Eckholm suggests how businesses can prepare for incoming regulatory changes.

Our regular contributors are showing their greener side too, as Retail Champion Clare Bailey highlights opportunities for smaller retailers and legal expert Natalia Samodina reflects on the realities and legalities of green claims.

We also share the personal experiences of this year’s Young Professionals Industry Experience cohort, insight from Gordon Hecht, Steve Pickering, Howard James and Kate Hardcastle, and interview Greenwood Retail’s Bernard Eaton.

Meanwhile, ufurnish.com’s Deirdre Mc Gettrick shares her tips for the season’s furnishing trends, we present a plethora of show reports and previews, and Loaf’s Theo Sheppard explains how the laid-back, family-friendly retailer has taken customer engagement to new levels with its newest store, which even boasts its own film lounge.
