Buoyant builds momentum towards MFS

Buoyant Upholstery says it emerged from this year’s January Furniture Show on a high, reporting an exceptionally positive response to the newly released collections and reinforcing its growing momentum across both of its domestic and imported upholstery categories – and Manchester Furniture Show promises to be the perfect follow-up opportunity …

At the beginning of the year, Buoyant launched 13 imported leather and recliner models, developed under its Prestige Collections banner. The collection comprised five of Buoyant’s established bestselling designs reimagined in leather, alongside eight brand-new recliner models (available in both leather and fabric) co-developed specifically for the UK market. According to the company, interest from both long-standing customers and new accounts exceeded expectations throughout the January show.

At this year’s Manchester Furniture Show, visitors can expect to see the successful leather and recliner offering, which marks a significant evolution in Buoyant’s product mix. The new models showcased will display the benefits of Buoyant’s Prestige line, combining contemporary styling, competitive price points and innovative feature-led design, which will all be supported by UK-held stock and established service levels.

“The reimagined Buoyant fabric bestsellers are sure to attract strong interest,” says the manufacturer. “Many visitors will welcome the opportunity to offer familiar, proven silhouettes in leather. Meanwhile, the eight new recliners, designed to meet current UK consumer expectations around comfort, functionality and aesthetics, offer a breadth of choice and commercial appeal.”

Alongside the imported launches, Buoyant also highlighted new developments within its Ashley Manor range, which is set to play a key role in the company’s British-made upholstery portfolio. Buoyant says the positive reaction to these models at the January Furniture Show reinforced its strategy of balancing UK manufacturing growth with carefully selected imported categories.

The Manchester show will also provide an opportunity for Buoyant to strengthen relationships and open new conversations. The manufacturer hopes to attract a steady flow of independent retailers and larger national accounts, some of whom may be engaging with the brand for the first time. According to Buoyant, the ability to offer leather and recliner collections without the need for full container commitments will resonate strongly with the independent sector.

“Our aim has always been to make doing business with Buoyant straightforward and rewarding,” adds MD Mike Aramayo. “The feedback we received at the NEC showed that customers appreciate the direction we’re taking, with more choice, faster development, and a clear focus on value and service.”

On the importance of this year’s Manchester Furniture Show, head of design Jake Pinder adds: “MFS presents a great opportunity for us to reconnect and touch base with our customers at the mid-point of the year, as well as exhibit some new product ahead of the busy retail season later in the year. We will have fresh new fabrics to display, along with a new exciting model to launch.”

Buoyant says it is heading into the show well positioned for the second half of the year, and that the success of its new launches not only validates the Prestige and Ashley Manor collections, but also signals the manufacturer’s growing confidence and capability in the leather and motion market.
