A major fire broke out in an outbuilding at Airsprung Group's Trowbridge site late yesterday afternoon, prompting the deployment of multiple local fire crews.
The Wiltshire Times reports that the fire service "believes the fire was started accidentally in two wooden buildings, which contained textiles, wood and paper".
The blaze, at the Airsprung site off Canal Road, was scaled back by yesterday evening.
"The fire broke out in a yard at the back, in a shed of recycling waste, well away from the factory – the building itself was not involved,” says an Airsprung spokesperson.
Last week, Furniture News reported that the group had filed a Notice of Intention to appoint administrators (NOI) due to "significant pressures faced in the sector, all of which have impacted Airsprung’s trading performance and have affected the cashflow position of the company" (see related).
