Furniture Makers welcomes new members

The Furniture Makers' Company welcomed 12 new freemen and one corporate freeman during an admission ceremony at Furniture Makers’ Hall in London on Tuesday 10th December.

The newly admitted freemen, which included two partners of liverymen, are: Annette Ahern; Carol Carter; Leanne Eastwood, commercial director, HSL Chairs; Tristine Hargreaves, executive director, the NBF; Paul James, sales director, One Call Furniture; Emma Rackley, director of Home & Furniture, Associated Independent Stores (AIS); Richard Renouf, director, Expertise With Integrity; Phil Spademan, MD, British Furniture Association (BFA); Gary Sprawling, MD, ALS Labs; Ben Waters, operations director, HSL Chairs; George Winks, creative director, Temper Studio; and Nick Wright, furniture school manager, The King’s Foundation. Additionally, Gary Lasham of Barons Contract Furniture was admitted as a corporate freeman.

Some of the newly admitted freemen expressed their enthusiasm about joining the company.

Emma Rackley says: “After spending most of my working career in the furniture industry, it’s an absolute privilege to be able to join The Furniture Makers’ Company and give back for all that it has given me. A wonderful network of inspiring and supportive individuals who are passionate about furniture.”

Paul James reflects: “After over 30 years in the furniture industry, I am delighted to join The Furniture Makers’ Company. I have vast experience in all areas of business and feel the time is right for me to give back to the industry that has provided me with so much.”

Leanne Eastwood notes: “I am thrilled to be a part of The Furniture Makers’ Company to show my appreciation for the industry that has been a source of inspiration and opportunity for me. I am eager to collaborate with fellow members, broaden my knowledge of this incredible industry, and share insights from our family business. Leveraging our expertise in retail, manufacturing, and logistics, I am committed to supporting others in their success and long-term growth.”

Phil Spademan states: “As MD of the British Furniture Association, I’m passionate about the furniture industry and look forward to supporting the extremely great charitable work undertaken by The Furniture Makers’ Company. The opportunity to network with my peers whilst giving something back to the industry is a win-win situation. I’m delighted to have joined.”

Brian Ahern, master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, concludes: “I congratulate all our newly admitted members and look forward to their contributions as the company continues its mission to support and advance the UK furniture industry.”
