IKEA introduces smart new app features

IKEA has unveiled several new features on its mobile app which promise to create "a more seamless, personalised, and inspiring shopping journey".

With over 86 million downloads globally, IKEA's app sets a benchmark in the home shopping experience, and the new version introduces and upgrades tools including 3D visualisations and personalised recommendations.

Items of furniture can be previewed in a space (AR) or rotated in 3D to see all angles, while the app now offers tools to streamline the shopping experience, including: Shop & Go (customers can scan and shop as they move through the store); Express Checkout; Order Tracking and Express Returns; Food Mobile; Store Page (customers can now view their local store page, check quieter times, and access exclusive local offers); Improved Notifications; and Purchase Summary.

The app’s intelligent personalisation makes every visit tailored to the buyer, and IKEA Family members gain access to an enhanced membership space with exclusive discounts and offers based on their shopping preferences. They can also track and redeem points for perks like free Click & Collect services, complimentary meals at IKEA restaurants, and home furnishing vouchers. The upgraded membership space offers insider access to product launches, sustainability initiatives, and special events, along with classic benefits like free drinks and workshop invitations.

IKEA is also making it easier for customers to improve their sleep – with IKEA Kreativ, shoppers can design their own sleep sanctuaries using 3D technology. IKEA is aiming ti simplify the path to better sleep with self-serve kiosks, helping customers discover their ideal mattress, pillow and bedding based on their personal needs.

Parag Parekh, chief digital officer at IKEA Retail (Ingka Group), says: “These new features make shopping at IKEA simpler, faster, and more inspiring than ever. With smart tools and personalised experiences, the app helps customers plan, shop, and bring their dream home to life, effortlessly. And this is just the beginning, as IKEA continues to innovate and redefine a better everyday life at home.”
