Sleepeezee donates mattresses to sleep and wellbeing clinic

Kent-based mattress manufacturer Sleepeezee has donated two of its premium mattresses to the newly opened Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT), at the University of Kent, to support the new research facility.

This practical donation will provide the clinic with the fundamental resource to help it continue its ongoing research into the link between sleep hygiene and Parkinson’s symptoms, as well as providing comfort for individuals participating in studies.

Sleep disturbances are a common challenge for people with Parkinson’s, often exacerbating other symptoms and impacting overall quality of life. By contributing these mattresses, Sleepeezee aims to help advance efforts to improve sleep health for those affected by the condition.

Sleepeezee MD Steve Warren says: “At Sleepeezee, we believe that quality sleep is essential for wellbeing, and we are delighted to have donated mattresses from our Wool Deluxe range to support the vital research at Parkinson’s Centre for Integrated Therapy (PCIT). Expertly crafted in our Kent-based factory, the mattresses, made with 100% British wool, provide natural breathable fibres and supportive springs. We also provided the Sleep Clinic with two of our leading divan bases, with the aim that our donation aids both researchers and participants in their critical work on Parkinson’s and sleep disorders.”

Gurprit Lall, director of the Sleep and Wellbeing Clinic and professor of Neuroscience, and a world-leading expert on biological rhythms and circadian neurobiology, explains: "We aim to promote healthy sleep through education and personalised, non-pharmacological strategies. We will provide participants with an understanding of sleep hygiene, healthy sleep habits and basic information on how the human body uses external signals to maintain good quality sleep.

“The kind contribution from Sleepeezee allows us to enhance our sleep study setting, providing the very best environment for our research. Sleep plays a crucial role in neurological health, and having access to a high-quality mattress makes a significant difference in our research efforts.”
