Sofa Brands International (SBI) has released its statuary accounts for the year ending 30th June 2025, and reports a 53% increase in profitability. At £2.6m (EBITDA), it says this was its best performance since 2019.
During the year, and in 2025/26, SBI says it has "implemented a substantial amount of change across the business in order to strengthen its finances and its position in the market. In March 2025, a specialist interim CEO was appointed to continue to drive the changes, building on what had been achieved in the past.
"Improvements have included working more as a group, rather than as separate operating units, developing and implementing a new strategic plan, streamlining systems and processes, taking product quality to even higher levels, and introducing robust financial controls.
"Improved efficiencies have enabled overhead costs to be substantially reduced, including optimising headcount. An increased focus on our people has been demonstrated via greatly improved internal communications, including monthly company briefings.
"On the sales side, we have been very active with new product launches and improvements in our in-store presence, working closely with our retail partners.
"The outlook for the group looks very positive, with further significant improvements in profitability expected in the current financial year, as we implement our growth plans".
A spokesperson adds: “It is clear that the hard work by all the team is paying off, and we’re moving in the right direction. We are very confident about the future”.
SBI designs, manufactures and distributes sofa brands including G Plan, Parker Knoll, Duresta and The Lounge Co. It has manufacturing sites in Melksham, Castlewood (pictured) and Lithuania, together with two factory outlet stores. Its ranges are extensively available across the UK via independent furniture stores and major multiples including Furniture Village, as well as in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Last week, it reported that James Thompson would become its new CEO on 1st May (see related).
