Stockholm Furniture Fair will not take place this coming February says organiser Stockholmsmässan, but will relaunch in 2027, "reimagined and renewed".
"In order to create an even stronger and more future-oriented platform, we are now choosing to concentrate our resources on 2027, with sustainability and innovation remaining at the core of our vision," says Chicie Lindgren, business area manager, Stockholm Design Events. "This represents an important step in our ambition, together with the industry, to further develop the business, the product, and the overall experience."
The decision to cancel next year's edition was made in close consultation with the Swedish furniture industry and its trade association TMF, and aims to reinforce the show's position, with Stockholm Design Week, as "the leading business and meeting place for Scandinavian design and architecture".
"From 2027 onwards, the Stockholm Furniture Fair will be held biennially," says Stockholmsmässan. "This new approach also creates opportunities to build a broader platform over time – with activities and initiatives taking place between editions of the fair.
"A key consideration has been to align the fair’s schedule with the industry’s development cycles and the international trade fair calendar, thereby creating stronger conditions for sustainable long-term growth."
Cecilia Ask Engström, director of industry and policy at TMF, comments: "We believe that a relaunch of the Stockholm Furniture Fair is an exciting step forward. The industry is motivated to work closely with the fair’s team, and we see significant potential in further developing this key meeting platform."
Stockholm Design Week will be developed in parallel with the fair.
"We look forward to shaping these events together with the industry and its representatives, as we take on the important work ahead", Chicie concludes.
