November's issue: Squaring the circle

IKEA opened its secondhand marketplace to the UK last month – but it’s not the only business exploring new ways to buy and sell used furniture.

November’s issue features the first of a two-part feature exploring the concepts that threaten to disrupt how the industry traditionally does business, with this month’s focus on sustainable solutions – including elevator pitches from Kirsty Allsopp, Marc Downer, Bradley Hornby and Riana LeJeune.

Contributor Clare Bailey also encourages independents to look beyond the sale, and we visit Raft Furniture, a recovering business with a heritage of eco-friendly strategies, which invited Furniture News to go behind the scenes of its London showroom and adjoining sofa factory.

You’ll also find our official feature dedicated to the winners and finalists of this year’s NBF Bed Industry Awards – and sustainability is again very much at the fore. Being an industry champion increasingly means having a convincing answer to the question, ‘What happens to my furniture when I’m done with it?’
