September's issue: Retail renaissance

In 2023, pan-European retailer Poltronesofà announced its entry to the UK via the acquisition of ScS, and last month it shared its latest financials, saying its Italian parent group's “vision and strategy have now been fully adopted in the UK”.  In September’s issue we’ve an exclusive interview with CEO Mike Schmidt, who outlines the start of a bold new chapter for Sunderland’s famous suite shop.

We also report from Kyoto’s newly expanded facility, and share updates from Whitemeadow, Loxa and Sofa.com.

They aren’t the only ones turning a new leaf, as autumn signals retail’s resurgence and a raft of trade shows including Autumn Fair, Minerva’s Autumn Furniture Show and Long Point, plus the Bed Show (read our previews, and find out more in our dedicated Bed Buyer supplement).

Other highlights include the latest in retail technology, the best furniture from summer’s New Designers exhibition, news from MA Living and Meta Sofa, and columns from industry experts including Ben Wain, Gordon Hecht, Tim Hudson, Phil Pond, Andrew Goodacre and John D Moulton.
