Bensons for Beds customers have helped raise more than £32,000 for homelessness charity Crisis through the retailer’s National Bed Month campaign.
During March, Bensons pledged to donate £5 from every Slumberland mattress sale to Crisis, with five customers also selected at random to have the value of their mattress order donated to the charity. The customer-led initiative is the retailer’s largest single fundraising campaign donation to date.
Launched during National Bed Month, the campaign used the moment to spotlight the importance of a safe, secure place to sleep and support Crisis in its mission to end homelessness for good.
This funding could help Crisis provide vital services including contributing to a deposit and first month’s rent to help 20 people secure a new place to live.
Emily Lever, head of partnerships and community fundraising, Crisis UK, says: "We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Bensons for Beds. Raising over £30,000 in just one month is an outstanding achievement, and this generous support will help us provide vital services and bring us one step closer to ending homelessness for good."
Nick Collard, CEO Bensons for Beds, adds: “At Bensons, we believe everyone deserves the security of a good night’s rest. I’m incredibly proud of the 6000 or so customers who got behind this campaign and are helping make a real difference. Reaching more than £32,000 in just four weeks shows what can happen when people come together for an important cause.”
Since partnering with Crisis in 2022, Bensons for Beds has worked alongside the charity to help support people experiencing homelessness through fundraising, product donations and practical support. Together, the partnership has now raised more than £135,000, alongside donations of over 800 mattresses, pillows, duvets and sheets to help people rebuild their lives or raise further funds.
