The Cotswold Company, the digitally-led handcrafted furniture and homeware brand, has announced plans to open its 17th showroom, at 44 Foregate Street, Chester. The new location is expected to open by the end of the year, creating seven new roles.
Located in Chester city centre, the new showroom occupies a prominent Grade II-listed building with rich local heritage. Formerly a public house, the property is currently undergoing a total transformation into a new 6,500 sqft showroom and will soon offer customers the opportunity to browse the brand’s extensive range of products for all parts of the home.
This includes its Chester, Inglesham, Elkstone Oak and Camille living and dining collections, alongside a built-in chair wall offering a wider range of seating options. In addition, Chester will host The Cotswold Company’s new collection launched in collaboration with the National Trust.
Customers will also be able to take inspiration from seven bedroom settings, and explore freestanding kitchen furniture, office pieces, and a wide selection of accessories. Alongside this, the showroom will host a Ready-Made Curtain collection, dedicated lighting display and mattress testing hub. This will sit alongside its fully integrated Upholstery Hub, providing full-length fabric options and dedicated consultation space.
The opening forms part of The Cotswold Company’s strategy to broaden its footprint of showrooms across the UK, strengthening brand awareness and supporting its model. Earlier this year, the group opened showrooms in Kingston and Redbrick, both of which it says are trading ahead of expectations.
CEO Ralph Tucker says: “Chester is a city with rich heritage and a strong retail offering, making it a natural fit for The Cotswold Company and our thoughtfully designed, made-to-last furniture. Over the coming weeks, we will carefully transform the Grade II-listed building to create a space that offers inspiration for local consumers looking to add character and charm to their home.
“This year, we’ve continued our UK expansion strategy with successful openings in Kingston and Redbrick – both of which have hit the ground running – and we are highly confident that Chester will be another success, particularly during a busy Christmas trading period. We can’t wait to introduce local consumers to their new showroom later this year.”
