The Cotswold Company announces National Trust collaboration

The Cotswold Company, the digitally led furniture and homeware brand, has announced a multi-year collaboration with the National Trust, focused on heritage-inspired design, craftsmanship and conservation.

The collaboration brings together two organisations with roots in the Cotswolds and a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, heritage and the natural world. The Cotswold Company says the collaboration "reflects a shared commitment to quality, stewardship and made-to-last products, while celebrating British heritage and timeless design inspired by some of the country’s most treasured houses".

Expected to be unveiled this autumn, a new National Trust-inspired collection comprises two ranges that draw on architectural and historic design details identified by the Cotswold Company’s design team during research visits to National Trust properties in the Cotswolds.

Conservation is also a critical element of the collaboration. The Cotswold Company says it will make a significant investment to support the National Trust’s conservation activity such as the Stroud Landscape Project in the western Cotswolds. Specifically, this work will focus on restoring species-rich calcareous grasslands and meadows in the Cotswolds, which have declined by 96% over the last 90 years. This will see the National Trust plant trees and establish new hedgerows, restore historic orchards and priority habitat, and sow wildflower seeds, among other initiatives.

Over the coming months, the collaboration will be brought to life through a multichannel, multi-stakeholder campaign spanning retail showrooms and digital platforms. Designed as "a collaboration with purpose beyond product", the campaign will also engage staff, strengthen brand awareness and introduce the collaboration to new and existing audiences.

Ralph Tucker, CEO at the Cotswold Company, says: “The National Trust is synonymous with heritage, conservation and quality and, like us, shares a belief that beautifully designed spaces can enrich lives. Over the coming years, we will work closely with the National Trust to launch new collections inspired by some of the UK’s most treasured houses and, importantly, support shared conservation and nature restoration projects in the Cotswolds, our home.

“This collaboration represents an important strategic milestone for The Cotswold Company as we continue to strengthen brand awareness, deepen engagement with existing customers and introduce the brand to new audiences who value thoughtful design, craftsmanship and quality. We are really excited to be working with such an iconic British organisation and look forward to bringing the collaboration to life over the coming months.”

Becky Stanford, head of brand licensing for the National Trust, adds: “We’re delighted to collaborate with The Cotswold Company, a brand that shares our values of heritage, craftsmanship and commitment to the environment.

"Inspired by our archives and historic house interiors, the collection translates timeless influences into designs for contemporary living – offering customers a meaningful connection to the National Trust by having a small piece of history in their own homes, while supporting our ongoing conservation work. We can’t wait to see the collection launch in stores and online later this year.”
