The ninth annual Curry Night, organised by the Yorkshire Region of The Furniture Makers’ Company, the City of London livery company and charity for the furnishing industry, has raised £1800 for the industry charity.
The well-established event took place for the first time at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds on 20th February, drawing around 100 attendees from across the UK furniture and furnishing industry. Guests enjoyed an evening of networking and camaraderie while indulging in a selection of curries, including traditional favourites, alongside an array of sides and desserts.
Attendees also participated in various fundraising activities, including a raffle, all contributing to the evening’s success. The funds raised will support The Furniture Makers’ Company’s education and welfare charitable initiatives.
The Furniture Makers’ Company would like to thank Jay-Be for sponsoring the drinks reception, and the following companies for sponsoring or donating a prize to the raffle – Headlam, Jay-Be, John Cotton Group, Mattress Online, Peter Hewitt, and Shackletons.
Jessica Alexander, chairman of the Yorkshire Region, says: “I’m delighted at the success of the Yorkshire Region’s ninth annual Curry Night. Not only did we raise an impressive £1800-plus for the charity, but our new venue at the Royal Armouries Museum, with drinks in the impressive African Asian gallery, was extremely well received by our guests.
"My personal thanks to Jay-Be for their sponsorship of the drinks reception, to everyone who donated raffle prizes, and to all those who attended.”
The Furniture Makers’ Company operates nine regional committees across the UK, including East of England, Central, North East, North West, Yorkshire, South West, South East, Southern, and the newly established Wales Region. Each committee is committed to hosting a range of fundraising and networking events throughout the year, welcoming both members and non-members to support the charity’s initiatives.
