Get Laid Beds walks for mental health charity

The Get Laid Beds team is supporting charity Shout this month by walking the equivalent distance from its hometown of Leicester to Gambia in Africa.

Forty team members have signed up to take part in the challenge, with the aim to walk 7,500,000 steps (3452 miles) during September. This works out at 250,000 steps per day, or 187,5000 steps per person over the month.

Shout is a charity that provides 24/7 text messaging for anyone seeking help with their mental health and struggling to cope. The bed brand is hoping to raise £3452 for the charity, which matches how many total miles will hopefully be walked over the month.

Scott Shields, CEO of Get Laid Beds, says: “Our team of bedmakers and office staff has taken on a Herculean challenge, we’re walking the equivalent of travelling from our barns in Leicester, to Gambia in Western Africa. We are walking for SHOUT, an amazing mental health text support charity. We're getting our steps in during lunch breaks and free time, all tracked on the Step Up app.

"We are getting active and supporting a great charity! If you want to cheer us on? We’ve set up a Just Giving page. Together, we believe we can make a difference.

"On day 1, we walked 232,737 steps …just 7.26m steps to go!"
