Silentnight says it is celebrating eight decades as one of Britain's best-known sleep brands by reaffirming its commitment to UK manufacturing, sustainability and innovation.
Founded in Lancashire in 1946, the business has grown from its roots as a local manufacturer into the UK's "most trusted sleep brand" (based on independent research conducted with 600 consumers by Vision One), with its products found in millions of homes and hotel rooms across the country.
It now employs hundreds of people at its Lancashire operations and continues to manufacture its mattresses in the UK, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing, product innovation and industry-leading sustainability initiatives.
The company says it is also looking firmly to the future as it celebrates 80 years in business. It recently achieved B Corp certification, recognising its commitment to meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, governance and transparency. The milestone builds on years of investment in sustainable manufacturing, circular economy initiatives and employee wellbeing, reinforcing Silentnight's ambition to combine commercial success with positive impact.
Tracey Bamber, CEO of Silentnight, says: "Reaching our 80th anniversary is a proud moment for everyone connected with Silentnight.
"For eight decades, generations of families have trusted us to help them get a good night's sleep. That trust has been earned through a relentless focus on quality, innovation and understanding what consumers need.
"We're also incredibly proud of our Lancashire roots. Manufacturing remains at the heart of our business and our commitment to making mattresses in the UK is as strong today as it has ever been.
"While we're celebrating our history, our focus is firmly on the future. We continue to invest in our people, our products and our sustainability ambitions as we build the next chapter of the Silentnight story, as evidenced by our recent B Corp certification."
