The South West Furniture Manufacturers' Agent and Representatives Federation (SWFMARF) has announced that its annual trade show, typically held in Bridgwater, Somerset, will not take place this September.
"While this decision was not made lightly, it reflects a combination of extenuating circumstances and the continued rise in operational and participation costs affecting events across the sector," states the federation.
"In recent years, the landscape for trade exhibitions has shifted significantly. Increasing venue, logistics and exhibitor expenses have created new challenges, prompting organisers to take a strategic pause. This decision allows the federation to reassess, adapt, and ensure that future events deliver maximum value for both exhibitors and visitors.
"Planning is already under way for the 2027 show, which promises to be bigger, more dynamic and better aligned with the evolving needs of the industry. The aim is to return with a revitalised format that reflects both innovation and resilience within the sector.
"In the meantime, the federation has been actively strengthening its presence and outreach. A focused campaign is under way to raise awareness and grow membership. This ongoing effort ensures that the community remains connected and continues to thrive despite the temporary pause in the annual event.
"Professionals interested in becoming part of the federation are warmly encouraged to get involved. The costs to join are minimal, and it’s a positive, active and welcoming networking opportunity. "SWFMARF looks forward to welcoming the industry back in 2027 for an event that will set a new benchmark for excellence."
