Silentnight/Sleepeezee parent company reports growth

The Sleep Group, parent company of Silentnight and Sleepeezee, has delivered further growth in the year to the end of January 2026, with revenues increasing to £156.5m despite a challenging consumer backdrop and tough prior-year comparatives.

Group revenues increased 1.6% from £154m in the previous year, while underlying trading profits (EBITDA) remained broadly stable at £13.7m, compared with £13.5m in 2025.

The increase in reported revenues reflected a full year of contribution from Sleepeezee, which was acquired part-way through the previous financial year.

On a LFL basis, overall group revenues were lower following the completion of a significant contract rollout which benefited the previous year. The group says growth elsewhere in its contract business, alongside a programme of operational improvements, administrative efficiencies and investment in digital capabilities, helped maintain EBITDA despite the tougher comparison.

During the year, the group also refinanced its borrowing facilities on improved terms, replacing higher-cost existing borrowing with a lower-cost financing structure. The transaction enabled the redemption of the group’s remaining preference shares and a £34.8m capital return to shareholders, while retaining adequate resources to support ongoing operations and investment.

In March 2026, the group further expanded its presence in the contract market through the acquisition of Bradford-based Wow! Lifestyle, a manufacturer of beds and mattresses for sectors including student accommodation plus holiday and leisure. The group said the acquisition represented a further step in its strategy to diversify its customer base, broaden its presence across different end markets and grow its contract operations.

The Sleep Group operates two established consumer brands in complementary areas of the market: Silentnight, which operates in the mass and middle market; and Sleepeezee, which has a more premium positioning. Both manufacture in the UK, from sites in Barnoldswick, Lancashire and Rochester, Kent respectively.

Across the group’s two core consumer brands, Silentnight maintained robust profitability despite a demanding comparative, with the prior year having benefited from a significant contract rollout, says The Sleep Group, while Sleepeezee delivered LFL sales growth across its consumer and contract channels.

Silentnight, which marked its 80th year in operations in 2026, continued to invest in product development and achieved B Corp certification as part of its ongoing sustainability strategy. Sleepeezee also continued to invest in brand development, manufacturing capability and its relationships with independent retailers, while reporting growth across both consumer and contract channels on a comparable basis.

Tracey Bamber (pictured), chief executive of The Sleep Group, comments: “This was another year of solid progress for the group against a challenging consumer backdrop and tough prior-year comparatives. We delivered revenue growth while maintaining underlying profitability, continued to invest in our brands and operations, and strengthened the group’s position for the long term.

“The acquisition of Wow! Lifestyle represents another important step in our growth strategy, broadening our presence in the contract market and giving us exposure to new sectors including student accommodation plus holiday and leisure.

“With two strong British consumer brands, an expanding contract proposition and continued investment in sustainability, innovation and UK manufacturing, we believe the group is well placed to build on this momentum.”

Steve Warren, MD of Sleepeezee, adds: “Sleepeezee continued to make good progress during the year, with growth across both consumer and contract channels. We have continued to invest in the brand, our manufacturing operation and our relationships with independent retailers, while maintaining the craftsmanship and quality for which Sleepeezee has been known for more than a century. We believe that gives us a strong platform for further growth across retail and contract markets.”
